Facebook for Authors
We titled this blog post Facebook for Authors as we realize that Facebook has over 1 billion active users and is surpassing this figure year-over-year.
This social network is one of the most effective platforms for reaching a broad audience. Authors and publishers should pay more attention to what they do on Facebook and leverage it as an effective branding tool.
Facebook has groups where authors could find like-minded people.
Engaging in group discussions is about providing support, feedback and an original voice. The platform allows you to set up a fan page, organize live events, run ads and much more.
Authors and Publishers
Authors and publishers with active followers on Facebook can leverage their visibility.
Posts, images and videos should be to engage and produce good traffic that can be converted into sales. Facebook is mostly free to use and challenging to manage, but it provides the greatest opportunity for authors and book sellers.
We understand that social media can help authors sell more books. However, it doesn’t happen as easy as it sounds. You may post a message and expect all your followers to see it. But the reality is that when you post something on a page, only a small fraction of your followers will get to see your post.
The stream nature of social media platforms means that information is constantly flowing and your post – if not timed correctly – may not be seen by the majority of your followers.
The Problem
Sometimes I see people spending a lot time on social media and it feels like a big waste of time. Therefore, it’s important to understand that your targeted audience and expose them to your posts. Otherwise, your efforts may indeed be a waste of time.
The Solution
Consider the vast number of Facebook users and the potential to reach them.
Make a conscious decision to be social, to be helpful, focused and to promote your brand in an intentional way… Most importantly, understand that social networks are about segmentation. Therefore, know your audience and everything there is to know about them.
