What to Post
On part 4 of the Facebook for Author’s series, we will cover what to post and what’s next for your social media strategy.
If you missed part 1, part 2 or part 3, it’s a good idea to take a look at them while they are still up and available.
Whenever you make a post on your personal Facebook page, you will see a little text box message titled “What’s on your mind?” This text box serves as a call to action (CTA) for those who choose to post what is on their minds at that moment.
The message is a little bit different on switching to your fan page as it says, “Write something.” This doesn’t specify what should be written, but as an author, you know you have to write something related to your brand.
Facebook page vs fan page
While your personal Facebook page and fan page may look similar in appearance and function, they have completely different content and purpose. For your Facebook fan page, you should realize that you are trying to get the attention over one billion potential viewers, unlike your personal Facebook page where you have mostly your friends and family as your audience. Therefore, your fan page is a viable tool for promoting your book.
You also need to understand some dynamics about Facebook as it differs from other platforms. For Facebook, it can contain longer posts as it doesn’t have restrictions on the number of characters.
What to post
Include images on Facebook posts as it increases the chances of engagement than text-only posts. So, splurge a little. Add images and video that will illustrate and help anchor your text and message.
Copyright
Avoid copyright violations by using copyright free images and video.
Content is king, queen and Jester
Pro Tip: Make it authoritative, intentional and funny. The more original and hilarious your content is, the more memorable it will become.
You’ve heard that “content is king.” But, as it is written on The Book of Concepts: “In today’s World, content is king, queen and jester.” So, make it count by making it authoritative, intentional and funny. The more original and hilarious your content is, the more memorable it will become to your readers.
